DOLLY

Dolly has come down with a condition which is suspected to be masticatory myositis, an auto-immune disease that affects her jaw muscles. She is on a course of steroids to see if there’s any improvement. She can only open her mouth about an inch. She can still bark, eat and drink, but long term we do not know if she will ever improve. Please consider sponsoring Dolly’s veterinary diagnosis and care or monthly needs, no amount is too small; we suspect she will be in foster care with us long term. You may donate online at http://newkenthumane.org These are Dolly’s intake pictures. She looks much cuter, shinier and friendly now. She has blossomed into a very friendly and playful dog. Dolly is a darling, waggy tailed, 15 pound beagle. She is in a caring foster home and she is looking for a home to call her own. She is current on vaccines and is spayed/micro chipped and is ready for her new home. Please e-mail thenry@newkenthumane.org

DAVY

Davy is one lucky hound boy – he’s in a foster home and is doing great.  He was living/starving near an abandoned house and a trailer park when a few good citizens noticed him and decided to help. They set up a feeding place and everyday went to bond with this formerly shy fellow.  Well after a few months, their patience paid off.  He is safe with us now, enjoying rubs and pets (and regular meals).  Davy had to go to the vet to have an ear infection cleared up, and then again to get his dental issues fixed.  He is all ready to meet his new adoptive family with a bright smile.  If you are able, please donate to help offset the expense of his ear and dental treatments.  Our adoption fee barely covers the basic vet care required to get a pet ready for adoption, so any help from donations will keep us going to be able to help the ‘next Davy’ with issues over the basics.  He is house and leash trained and will make somebody an awesome new pet.

MATTIE

Mattie is a 4 year old, 50 pound, female tri-color Coonhound. Mattie has traveled a long, difficult road in her short life. She was found thin and stray near the James City County line and spent time waiting in the pound for a home. When she was overlooked time and again by potential adopters, space and time ran out for Mattie, we received the blessing of an open foster home and went there to save her. At the vets, we discovered Mattie had Lyme’s, Ehrlichia, and moderate heart worms, which we are currently in the process of healing. Mattie is the sweetest soul you could ever ask to meet. She fit right in at her foster home with the other dogs and small children. She is so happy to be receiving love and a warm snuggly place to lay her head at night, such simple things, yet things she’s never had before.

Please consider donating to help with her treatment to her with Mattie’s expenses of battling Lyme’s, Ehrlichia and heartworms.
